Yes for titles. But No for thumbnails.
Terminology
Click-through rate (CTR) on YouTube is a measure of how many people clicked on your video after seeing it. Let's say you make a video and 100 people see its thumbnail on YouTube. Out of those 100 people, if 10 people clicked on your video and watched it, your CTR would be 10%. So, CTR is like a score that tells you how interesting or appealing your video looks to people on YouTube. And thumbnail and titles directly affect CTR.
A/B testing is when you try two different things to see which one is better. For example, you might try wearing a red shirt one day and a blue shirt the next day to see which one your friends like more. Then you can decide which one to wear more often based on which one your friends like better. A/B testing can help you make better decisions by trying different options and seeing which one works best. A/B testing on YouTube is when you try different pictures (called "thumbnails") for your video to see which one people like more. You might try a picture of a dog one day and a picture of a cat the next day to see which one gets more people to watch your video. Then you can use the one that people liked more to get more people to watch your videos in the future. A/B testing on YouTube can help you make better videos that more people will like.
Youtube
A good click-through rate (CTR) on YouTube can vary depending on the content, audience, and competition. However, generally, a CTR of 2-10% is considered good. If your CTR is below 2%, it might indicate that your thumbnail and/or title are not engaging enough, or your video may not be reaching the right audience. On the other hand, a CTR above 10% is excellent and suggests that your thumbnail, title, and content are highly appealing to your target audience. Ex. Mr. Beast's island video gets a CTR of 7.3%.
Good question. But the answer is "No". Although YouTube has planned to provide internal A/B Testing for many years, it is currently not possible. Most Youtubers use tools like TubeBuddy to A/B test their thumbnails. But, we try to offer a better A/B testing experience at a more affordable price.
A good thumbnail (and title) comes with High CTR, meaning its draws people's attention. On the other hand, high AVD means it is a great video, meaning people want to watch until the end. And if you have both High CTR and High AVD, that's called Viral 🔥. Youtube will definitely recommend this video to a lot of people.
